At New Beginnings, we want everything we believe to begin with Jesus and be grounded in the Word of God. Scripture is our authority, and we depend on the Holy Spirit to help us understand it, live it, and become more like Christ.

We hold firmly to the essential truths of the Christian faith while extending grace where faithful believers may reach different conclusions on secondary matters.

What we believe shapes how we live. Our beliefs are more than doctrine to affirm; they shape the way we worship, the way we love and serve others, and the way we follow Jesus each day. Our desire is not simply to know biblical truth, but to be transformed by it through the work of the Holy Spirit.

 

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God and the foundation for what we believe and how we live.

Scripture reveals who God is, shows us the truth about ourselves, points us to salvation through Jesus Christ, and teaches us how to faithfully follow Him.

God

We believe there is one true God, Creator of heaven and earth, who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit share equally in the same divine nature and majesty of the Godhead.

God is holy, perfect, loving, just, gracious, and worthy of our complete worship and devotion.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is God incarnate—the only begotten Son of God, fully God and fully man.

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a completely sinless life, was crucified, shed His blood, and died as an atonement for the sins of mankind.

Jesus physically rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of God the Father.

Through His death and resurrection, forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and new life have been made possible.

Salvation & New Life

We believe salvation is made possible by the grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Scripture calls us to repentance, faith toward God, water baptism, and new life by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. It is through obedience to the Word of God in taking these foundational steps by faith that the believer is born again.

Salvation is not something we can earn through religious effort or good works. Jesus paid the price for our sin, and through Him we are forgiven, reconciled to God, and brought into new life.

Jesus said, I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32).  It does not matter what our lives have been like; a new beginning is possible in Jesus for everyone who believes in Him.

Water Baptism

We believe water baptism is a scriptural imperative for those who place their faith in Jesus Christ.

Scripture connects baptism with the remission of sin, identification with the death and resurrection of Jesus, and the circumcision of the heart as we enter into new life in Christ.

Baptism is an act of faith and obedience through which the believer identifies with Jesus and the new life He provides.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We believe that speaking in tongues is a biblical gift and manifestation of the Holy Spirit and that the gifts of the Spirit remain active in the Church today.

Through His indwelling presence, the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live godly lives, guides us into truth, transforms our character, and equips us to carry out the work of Jesus.

We desire to be a people who are sensitive and obedient to the leading of the Holy Spirit, exercising His gifts in love and in accordance with Scripture, while remaining firmly grounded in the Word of God.

Spiritual Gifts & Ministry

We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are active in the Church today.

The Holy Spirit freely distributes gifts and enablements throughout the body of Christ according to His will. These gifts are given for the strengthening of the Church, the equipping of believers, and the advancement of God's Kingdom.

We also believe God appoints ministries within the Church for the equipping of the saints and the building up of the body of Christ.

Spiritual gifts and ministry should operate biblically, humbly, and in a way that glorifies Jesus.

Following Jesus

We believe following Jesus means more than simply believing facts about Him. It means surrendering our lives to Him.

Jesus calls us to abide in Him, obey His Word, become increasingly like Him, love God wholeheartedly, and love the people around us.

As we remain connected to Jesus and yield ourselves to the work of the Holy Spirit, our lives should produce visible fruit that reflects Him to the world around us.

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ—a community of believers brought together through faith in Jesus.

The Church exists to worship God, grow in His Word, encourage and equip one another, serve those around us, make disciples, and share the Gospel.

Church is more than a place we attend. It is a community of people learning to follow Jesus together and using the gifts God has given them to strengthen one another.

Worship

We believe worship is an important and essential part of the life of every believer.

Jesus calls us to worship the Father in Spirit and in truth.

Worship is more than the songs we sing together. It is the response of a life surrendered to God—honoring Him through our praise, our obedience, our service, and the way we live.

When we gather together, we desire to worship with hearts full of praise and thanksgiving while remaining sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Resurrection & Eternity

We believe in the future physical resurrection of the dead.

Those who belong to Christ will be raised to eternal life with Him, while unbelievers will be raised to judgment and condemnation.

Our hope is ultimately found in Jesus Christ, His victory over death, and the promise of eternal life with Him.

Loving & Serving Others

We believe a life transformed by Jesus should be visible in the way we love and serve others.

Jesus calls us to love one another as He has loved us, forgive as we have been forgiven, care for those in need, serve sacrificially, and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in our everyday lives.

Our faith should not only be heard in what we say about Jesus. It should be seen in the way we live.

Our Foundation is Jesus

We don't believe following Jesus means having everything figured out.

It means trusting Him, surrendering to Him, remaining in Him, obeying His Word, and allowing the Holy Spirit to continually transform us into His likeness.

We are a community of people who have experienced the grace, forgiveness, and new life found in Jesus Christ—and we believe that same grace is available to everyone.

New beginnings are possible in Jesus.
